adopt A class AT lwcs
The cost of adopting a class at LWCS is 200.00 per month . this pays the teacher's salary, a two weeks pay Christmas bonus , and some paper, pencils and school supplies for the class. This is a relatively low tax deductible cost of $2400.00 per year, which can be paid monthly, quarterly or yearly. Sponsors can begin support at any time during the school year. 100% of the sponsorship donations go to the teacher and the class you adopt. With an average of more than 50 students in each class, this is a very low cost for these children to receive a quality education.
When you adopt a class you will be paired with a teacher or staff member of your choice. Through translated e-mails, you will be able to develop a personal relationship with your teacher and the students in the class you adopt. Some sponsors have even gone to Haiti and visited their adopted class and their teacher. Another sponsor has begun a pen~pal program with one Haiti class and her church children. We hope a pen pal program can be developed and can be expanded to all the classes.
The unemployment estimates in this area of Haiti are as high as 80%, so the jobs at LWCS are a life saver for our Haitian staff and their families. Involving American sponsors is an important aspect of our ministry. Facilitating the development of relationships between individual people of completely different cultures is enriching for everyone and both sides are blessed equally more than words can express.
When you adopt a class, you will receive a "class adoption Packet" which contains a picture of their class and short biography of the teacher, pictures of the school children, an LWCS calendar, Haitian demographics, and information and details about sponsorship and the school.
