- One of the best ways to
- help is to
- Adopt a class at our
- school to PROVIDe
EDUCATION FOR as many as - 60 children!
- See our class adoption page and
learn how easy it is. - None of the kids at LWCS have ever gone to school before. Some of the children enrolled in our school are orphans as well as A many restavecs, a legalised form of slavery. (Please google 'restavec')
- Our mission is to bring clean water, basic health care, and a nationally accredited education to some of the poorest children on planet Earth. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and Only a small percentage (around 20%) of children in this area of Haiti can afford Haitian schools which cost $200.00-$800.00 per year (American)tuition, plus uniforms and books. With haitian unemployment estimates as high as 80%,the majority of children in this area will never go to school or learn to read or write.
- Though Port de Paix was not directly affected by the devastating earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010 it received a large influx of refugees from Port Au Prince, many of them displaced children. Some estimates say the earthquake in Port Au Prince, killed more than 300,000 people, and resulted in more than 70,000 traumatic amputations. Haiti is now neck in neck with Africa as having the most number of amputees per capita in any country in the history of the world.
The children attending Living Water Christian School do not have the financial access to clean water and may not eat every day, but now, they receive purified water at school, occasional meals, and a certified Haitian national standard education. They are being taught to read and write their native Haitian Creole as well as how to speak French, Spanish and English. lwcs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
